  1. Who listened to him? Our schools test more than ever and now want to cram AP courses to high school students at age 15…. No use even posting these videos.

  2. They would starve death, or live in the park begging for spare change in their underwear…

    Americans H8 educators…

That’s why they get paid less than I do to teach the FUTURE…

  3. great teachers in Finland. They are giving kids freedom to develop on their own. When they grow up they will have to solve a lot of problems created by lot of children with no proper education, like global warming ,plastic contamination, disappearing forests.

  4. Oh hell… all you people either idealizing the Finnish educational system/teachers or calling them unfit for any other country because the students are better over here?? Are both still giving Finland way more credit than it's due.

Finland isn't a miraculous place where everything is fantastic, the students are angelic and respectful and the teachers sole reason for living is to teach their students all they need to live their life.

Every school has difficult students, being a Finn doesn't automatically make you a model student entusiastic to learn and absorb absolutely everything in every class. I speak only from my own experience, sure, but in my secondary school we had fire alarms, bullying, somebody stupid enough to flood the toilets just for the heck of it, police called multiple times ect. all of these are normal things that teachers just have to deal with when dealing with teenagers.

Just as there are diffucult students, even in Finland there are people who are unfit for teaching. Teachers who can't stand the ridicule or the uncaringness of their students or simply don't understand their needs, and end up tired and uncaring. However they started out as.

Finland isn't a "holy land" of education, at least when it comes to our additude to it, but we do offer equal oppotunity to all. With everyone OFFERED the best our country has, there's just bound to be more success in all.

Whatever the reality of it might be, it's certainly not our nationality alone that makes us so "great."

  5. I think the only way this twerp would learn anything is if he spent a year at this school: https://youtu.be/d-zZAWHF8bY
    Or this school: https://youtu.be/GIvCtyjmoNY

  6. Finnish teachers would be getting beat up like the teachers in the United States . Two totally different types of students

  7. How good would the education be if their society was inundated with hordes of undocumented immigrants from central America & poor areas of Africa & Asia. Would it work as well then? Would Finland then have to lower educational standards?

  8. Finland is mono cultural with a stable socialist system. diversity is lacking not a real reflection of the real world. Finland teachers are suited for Finland. the average american child lacks the discipline for finland school system

  9. Nothing would change because teachers embody the mindset and expectations of the culture. Finnish teachers would quit due to the bad curriculum and low expectations, as well as the student misconduct that is tolerated in American schools. American teachers would thrive bcuz the Finnish culture respects teachers AND values education. America does NOT value education, nor its educators…If they did they would fund schools and teaching salaries. Americans build prisons at 3x the rate they build schools. The elite have no interest in educating ALL Americans. There are plans underway to defund Public schools.

  10. Nothing would change. Blacks and Hispanics in the US sadly reject the 13 years of public school education offered to them at no charge.

  11. No mention was made of culture. Finland is a small country with a relatively homogeneous population with the exception a small Swedish speaking minority. Also there is no competition from private schools thus the best and the brightest of teachers have no where to than to the public school system.

  12. Only the corrupt USA would appoint an unintelligent, immoral, incompetent like Betsy DeVos as education secretary and allow the diversion of public funding from the public school system.

  13. My daughter lives in Finland. This is what she said in her email this week. "We got to do a school presentation on American Christmas traditions. The students were so good!! It was insane how peaceful they were. The teacher said like two words when the kids were starting to whisper and then they were quiet again. But they were way cute 5th graders. At the end of the presentation they performed the nativity for us! It is cool because here there's a religion hour and they all read the bible or other religious texts. They read from the bible while they did the nativity for us.
" Maybe this is what makes a difference.

  14. With a population less than that in NYC or in the LA area, or  the Chicago area, and with a population of similar cultural, language ( Swedish Finns must learn Finnish), and much less ethnic differences ,  a teacher in a school in Finland has a much easier task than a teach in the U.S. who must deal with much more complexed problems (social, cultural, ethnic, economic, family, etc.). My answer to the "What if" question is: Finland's Great Teachers, teaching in our schools,  will confront similar problems and difficulties. ,And very likely they will fail miserably in a world they have never seen and experienced.

  15. It is so important to consider the value, insight, and future of each individual student. Educators who are focused on learning and growth rather than test scores are bound to be more influential and beneficial to their students.

  16. Maybe if we made an experiment, let’s see how different types of school react having a teacher of a different caliber, to see how this model can adapt or be adapted to other countries.

The plan is to send a small group of teachers to different countries for 1-3 months each, to see if their experience and education system adapts or can be adapted to the rest of the world (and introduce a new way of seeing things, inspiring students, teachers, or even other schools to adopt their teachings).

  17. This is funny cos people always talk about how educated and successful finnish kids are, but still they can't do anything about bullying..

  18. Finland stood strong against Soviet Russia because of this! ..their system of education kept the country strong, ideologically motivated and united.

  19. In the United States the whole Department of Education needs to die and the Teacher's Union made illegal. They are all corrupt and turn away or burnout good teachers will useless, illogical, time wasting, bureaucracy that every teacher must follow.

  20. This is amazing. We need to keep teachers at the school instead of leaving the profession or going to different schools every few years. It's about the whole culture, cultural value and philosophy about developing people, not test scores. There is no shortcut.

  21. ONLY RIGHT AMOUNT OF EDUCATION WILL TURN STUDENTS AS INTELLIGENT. PRESENT 2 DECADES OF EDUCATION IS ACTUALLY TURNING STUDENTS AS IDIOT. Because due to any reason when people isolate from da practice world, they cannot have da knowledge about practical world.

I am not da first r list person to say, but many people had said long back. In thelugu language there is a saying as "chadhivina vaadikanna saakaloodu mealu" which mean instead of an educated an uneducated dhoobi (cloth washer) is better.
Moreover Mr, Raaja-bayya da present (2016) cabinet minister of Chief minister Mr. Akhileash Singh yaadhav, didn't gone to school, because his father was aware of da fact as da educated are coward.

Nobody can remember even 10% of da education through which they had gone. Moreover brain is not built to store 2 decades of education, nor it can processes.

EDUCATION IS JUST LIKE NEWS PAPER, READ TODAY FORGET TOMORROW. SO   EDUCATION IS DA WORLDS BIGGEST HYPE, SUPERSTITION, WASTE OF TIME, MONEY, ND ENERGY, ND DA LIST IS END LESS. MOREOVER MOST OF DA WORLDS GREATEST PERSONALITIES WERE UNDER EDUCATED OR NOT SO BRIGHT STUDENTS. FOR EXAMPLE BILL GATES, SWAMY VIVEKANANDHA, EINSTEIN, RAAMAANUJAM, STEVE JOBS, & MANY MORE. AND HUMAN BRAIN IS NOT BUILT TO REMEMBER OR PROCESS 2 DECADES OF EDUCATION.

I HAD CAME ACROSS WITH BOTH EDUCATED AND UNDER EDUCATED, AND OBSERVED. UNDER EDUCATED R HIGHLY CAPABLE, AT DA SAME TIME EDUCATED PEOPLE CAPABILITIES R VERY LESS.

MY WORDS R AS TRUE AS DA WORLD IS NOT FLAT, BUT WHO CAN CHANGE DA MANIAC WORLD.

  22. Do notice that finnish education still is really good.
But, the school food is really bad.
Teachers make us quiet about food.
We can't say anything about it.
Sometimes when we have soup. There is really mysterious black, grey, etc. spots. Potatoes are either rock hard, or rubber.
Well, we can have good exercise with the potatoes tho. Gymnastic or volleyball.
Eggs, holy crap those are really bad. They are either: raw, over cook, "old".
Sayed old like that because we aren't allowed to complain about the food.
Bread is dry. Or just hard.
Milk is good ! Better than home.
Minimal use of salt. So you can't even trick your self to eat the food.
There was day when there was good food.
    Ouh yeah.
    Finland is poor these days.
    That's the reason.
Ouh and the food makes people usually ill.

  23. Finnish teachers in UK state schools? They wouldn't last a week, having to deal with all the bad behaviour and uncooperative attitudes of the selfish minority who almost every day disrupt lessons!

  24. I do not think anything significant would change. Overall ambiance, culture and mind sets must change too. For example, in Finnish schools there is flexibility, assessments are personalized and teachers plan according to the needs of students.

  25. Lange opleiding Finse leraars versus korte opleiding Vlaamse leraars
