THE CITY OF ORLANDO SAYS THAT WE ARE DOING A GOOD JOB OF RECYCLING, BUT IN SOME AREAS WE ARE FALLING SHORT. THOSE MISTAKES FOUR SCREWS TO REJECT RECYCLABLES ALTOGETHER. TODAY CRUISE AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD PUSHING EDUCATION. WE MET UP WITH THE TEAM THAT WAS GOING AROUND REMINDING NEIGHBORS OF THE PROPER WAY TO RECYCLE. Reporter: IT IS A FAIRLY SIMPLE TASK. TOSS PLASTIC BOTTLES AND THE RECYCLING BIN. BUT ONE WRONG ITEM CAN THROW THE WHOLE SYSTEM OFF. ORLANDO SOLID WASTE DIVISION MANAGER SAID THAT MOST PEOPLE KNOW WHAT TO DO THAT SOMETIMES THERE’S CONFUSION ABOUT WHAT CAN ACTUALLY GO INSIDE THE BEEN? PLASTIC BAG SHOULD NOT BE IN THE MIX. THAT BAD WILL TANGLE UP THE SORTING MACHINE. SO THEY DON’T WANT THAT. IT’LL PUSH THE WHOLE PIECE OF IT AWAY. Reporter: THE CITY’S A GREEN WORKS TEAM HIT THE STREETS COME UP FOCUSING ON 800 HOMES. WE ARE GETTING PRETTY GOOD RECYCLING IN THE BINS. BUT THEY MAKE SOME OF THE MOST COMMON MISTAKES. LIKE TALKING PLASTIC BAGS ARE STYROFOAM INTO THE BEEN. TODAY CRUISE MADE THE CHECK BY LOOKING INSIDE THE BENDS. THEY ADDED STICKERS WITH INFORMATION. NEIGHBORS WILL SEE THREE STICKERS ON THEIR BEEN. THE CITY HOPES THAT BY ADDING MORE INFORMATION AND PICTURES, IT WILL HELP GET THE POINT ACROSS. WE WILL TRACK OF THE NEXT SEVERAL WEEKS TO SEE IF THERE’S AN IMPROVEMENT.
