distracted by video games. – I like video games. I always get distracted, and video games never get undistracting, and nothing else gets my attention. – See what I mean? So this game is awesome because it’s light weight, it’s portable, and it’s fun to play, it’s got plenty of lights, plenty of sound, so it keeps
your attention directed, and even thought it says
for ages K plus, five plus, people who are 10, 11, 12, even adults can play this game, because it helps keep them sharp. So Math Slam has five different games, which we’re gonna review, and each game has four
different levels of difficulty, and each of the games is timed, so you can play against yourself as you work to improve
you times, and get better, and more skilled at
answering math questions. It is awesome, for real. I played this one myself a
couple of times to keep me sharp. So this is the perfect way to learn and master addition, subtraction, finding missing numbers, sequencing, and triple addition. So, come on, let’s open it up, and I think you’ll be very surprised. It retails for $24.95 at
your local retail store. Make sure you check it out. It truly is an amazing learning game. – Let’s open this baby up. (beeping) – So the Math Slam game requires three C batteries to operate, and instead of a screwdriver, actually all you need is a coin to removed the covering of the case that contains the batteries. Math Slam contains five games, four different levels in each game. We’re gonna walk you
through briefly each game. We’ll play one of the games
all the way to completion, so you can actually see how it’s timed. First thing you do is you press the power button to turn it on. – [Game Voice] Let’s play Math Slam. Press the game button to begin. – [Dad] So you have the on off button, you have the game buttons for each of the five different games, you have the LED numbers that appear here, which are the answer paddles, and then when you need a
little peace and quiet, you have a volume dial on the side. – [Gabe] Now let’s turn this baby on. – [Game Voice] Let’s play Math Slam. Press a game button to begin. – [Dad] So the first game, which is designated by one of
the five buttons on the top, is marked with an arrow pointing upwards. The name of that game is Slam it Up. So the object of the game is to press the numbers
on the answer paddles from lowest to highest
as quickly as possible. Once again, you have
four different levels, each level has 13 questions, and your session is timed, so you’re trying to beat your best time. – [Game Voice] Slap them in order. Pick a level. One, two, three, or four. – [Dad] So Gabe’s gonna choose level four. – [Game Voice] Anything goes. – [Dad] Here we go. – [Game Voice] Let’s mix it up. Look at the numbers on the paddles. Press the numbers in order
from smallest to largest. Ready? – [Dad] Uh oh. – [Game Voice] Begin! (beeping) (electronic game music) – Are these all nines? I’m panicking. – [Game Voice] Game over. You got them all! – That was close, too. I made it. – So as you can see, missed questions are recycled until they are answered correctly, ensuring comprehensive comprehension of the concept. The second game is called Sum Slam, where random addition facts
appear on the LCD screen. You read the problem in the window, and you press the correct answer paddle. – [Game Voice] Sum Slam. Add it up. Anything goes, let’s mix it up! Read the puzzle in the window, and slam the answer. Ready? Begin! – [Gabe] So 10 plus 3. That makes 13. (game music) – [Dad] Next game is
called Subtraction Slam, and then subtraction facts
appear on the LCD screen. You read the problem in the window, and press the correct answer paddle. So you can see that you
had your hand over it. – [Game Voice] Pick a level. Anything goes, let’s mix it up! Read the problem in the window, and slam the answer. Ready? Begin! – [Gabe] So four minus three, one. (electronic game music) (beeping) – [Dad] The game Mystery Numbers, is indicated by a question mark
at the top of the Math Slam. – [Game Voice] Mystery Number. Can you find the mystery number? Pick a level. One, two, three, or four. Anything goes, let’s mix it up! Read the problem in the window, and slam the answer. (slapping) – [Gabe] It says slam. It’s like (slapping). This. The last game is called Triple Slam. – [Dad] You have random two part equations that appear on the LCD screen. You read the problem, and you press the correct answer pad. – [Game Voice] Read the
