The Top 5 Issues Facing Black Americans

What are the five biggest issues facing blacks
in America? Here’s my list. Problem #5. The Victim Mentality Nothing holds someone back more than seeing
himself as a victim. Why? Because a victim is not responsible for his
situation. Everything is someone else’s fault. And the victim sees little chance of improving
his life. How can he get ahead if someone is holding
him back? All this makes the victim unhappy, frustrated
and angry. This is how too many blacks see themselves
– as victims. So much so that their victim status becomes
their primary identity and their ruling ideology. I call it victimology. Unfortunately, many black churches preach
this “victimology,” many black parents pass it on to their children, inner-city schools
teach it to their students and the black media reinforce it. Meanwhile, the NAACP and other black grievance
groups fundraise on it. Problem #4. Lack of Diversity Blacks repeatedly demand an “honest dialogue
or debate about race.” But how can there ever be an honest dialogue
about race between blacks and whites when there is virtually no honest dialogue between
blacks and blacks? It’s hypocritical. And if a black doesn’t think, “whites
are ultimately responsible for black people’s problems,” they’re labeled a “sell-out,”
”Uncle Tom,” or “race-traitor.” As long as this type of groupthink exists,
race-reverends of the Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson type will continue to be celebrated while
independent black thinkers such as Professors Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams will be
shunned. The honest race dialogue and debate — that
first has to happen — is not between blacks and whites but between blacks and blacks. We demand diversity from others, but need
to practice it ourselves where it really matters — in thought, opinion, and even political
affiliation. Problem #3. Urban Terrorism As just about everyone knows, but too few
talk about publicly, in majority black cities, violent black on black crime is rampant. A Department of Justice study from 1980-2008
revealed that blacks accounted for almost half of the nation’s homicide victims (47.4%)
and more than half of the offenders (52.4%) all while only being 13% of America’s population. The Tuskegee Institute conducted a study of
all known lynchings of blacks that occurred between 1882-1968. During this 86-year span, which is essentially
the post-Civil War era up to the Civil Rights era, 3,446 Blacks where reportedly lynched. Presently, black-on-black murder eclipses
the number of blacks lynched over the course of 80 years roughly every six months. Unbelievably, the culpability for this disproportionate
amount of mayhem actually lies with a menacing 2-3% minority within the black populace. I call them urban terrorists. And since they’re literally spawned from
problem #2, the black community protects them. Problem #2. Proliferation of Baby Mamas The disintegration of the nuclear family has
led to an astronomical increase of single-mother households. According to the Moynihan Report, in 1965,
nearly 25 percent of black children were born to unwed mothers. The report’s author Daniel Patrick Moynihan
said this was a disaster in the making. He was, of course, vilified by so-called black
leaders and their progressive allies. But he was right. Today the out of wedlock birth rate is nearly
75 percent. and even higher in some urban areas. To be clear, Baby Daddies share this responsibility
with Baby Mamas. Yet, while Baby Daddies are blamed and rarely
shown compassion, Baby Mamas are rarely blamed and receive both compassion and support. This lopsided dynamic and the previously listed
pathologies stem directly from the number one problem facing the black community… Problem #1. Unquestioning Allegiance to so-called Progressive Policies Unwavering loyalty to progressive, liberal
policies is the primary reason these dire conditions persist. It both makes them possible and perpetuates
them. It’s no coincidence that progressivism is
the common thread that binds predominately black cities where single-parent homes, failing
schools, rampant poverty and crime predominate. Look at cities like Detroit, Philadelphia
and Baltimore. They’ve been run by progressive Democrats
for decades. If their liberal policies were at all effective,
these cities should have become models of economic growth and prosperity. Instead, they’re models of dysfunction. By fostering and exploiting the victim mentality,
discouraging self-examination, subsidizing baby-mamas, and making excuses for black thugs,
so-called progressive policies don’t alleviate the problems that afflict the black community,
they aggravate those problems. You may have noticed that racism did not make
the list. Why not? It’s simple: There will be no solution to
the problems afflicting black America until more blacks recognize that the issues plaguing
our community are ultimately self-inflicted. Does racism exist? Sure. But there are other problems far more serious. And waiting until there are no more racists
will mean waiting, and making excuses, forever. I’m Taleeb Starkes for Prager University.

  1. Every black Junior High student should watch this video. If nothing else will save them from ending up like so many black people do. Black Americans could be a very powerful race if only follow the basic guidelines giving it in this video. It's sad to see so many other cultures will come from outside the United States Thrive and succeed where the African-Americans are constantly struggling and just running in place

  2. Had he finished this video with the #1 problem being whitey – it'd have made for a hysterical video.

  3. Shouldn't need more than a pair of eyes and a single brain cell to know the answer to this.
    1. Other black people
    2. The black community
    3. Black culture
    4. Black attitudes
    5. Killer squirrels (j/k, it's Democrats, duh!!!)

  4. I’ll teach my kids about this nasty game of politics and how this stuff really works. They’ll be able to think for themselves and understand the two headed snake. They will understand the difference between truth and facts. They will know difference between compulsory education and real education. They will know real history vs his-story. They’ll be freethinkers and will understand why. They’ll even understand the majority People of color in this country were Republicans and why they became democrats. They will be able to view life on their own accord and will know with self infliction and self control. They will love themselves and protect their human rights always.

  5. a lot of blacks that suffer from being a racist will never listen 2 facts when white people tell them as a result of their ignorance I'm glad you are telling the actual reality and facts and you're black which makes it easier for some of the black people that suffer from Identity politics will actually listen thank you for this accurate report

  6. Why do the news cover every nearly every single police shooting what about the 324,000 Thousand Blacks Killed by Blacks In Only 35 Years yes that is correct 324,000 blacks have been killed by other blacks where is the media on that but no no that goes against the narrative that only police kill blacks the media is intentionally misguiding people into believing that’s the police are out to get black people. people need to wake up.

  7. One mistake that was made was separate all the history pages that involves black people staple them together and say here's black history be angry and hate us with a distrust for the rest of your life which has created a mental segregation

  8. He is not bad as he is saying the same things that white people have been saying for years but Negroes didn't want to hear it except from another negro ????
How STUPID can we be ????

  9. The one problem I can think of is that the demise of the Nuclear Family faces people of all races.

  10. You tell it like it is. Personal responsibility, old fashioned commitment to family and distrusting enlightenments will liberate the black community.

  11. With someone who has lived in several inner-city areas over his lifetime and had many black friends I must say this is one of those the most factually based and grounded arguments I've ever heard and makes a hell of a lot of sense.

  12. Blacks and demented whites, aka democrats, must face the truth: blacks have lower IQ’s than whites, as a group. There are exceptions like Drs Sowell and Williams, but average black IQ is twenty points below that of whites. IQ is the greatest predicter of success.
Blacks should use what abilities they are born with—use physical skills; blacks make lousy doctors; I know, I am a doctor.

  13. Wow! Although there is violence in a lot of Black communities, the drug and alcohol problem they have stems from the drugs flown and shipped into US and sold on the streets. More and more liquor stores are on just about every corner and payday loan shops. Don't mention the lottery ticket and casino money vacuums.

  14. oh, Baltimore's for sale? Buys Baltimore, first five years, sets it to no city taxes, works on increasing economic success, then focuses on bringing in the church to assist in preaching independence, especially United Methodist, as I consider myself Methodist and like their beliefs as I learn them.

  15. If a white person doesn’t think white people are responsible for black peoples problems they are labeled a “racist” or “bigot”or a “white supremacist”

  16. Leak of an Education. As somebody who went through the public education school system I remember the ways of public school teachers would pay attention to the loud and disruptive students well the ones who want help and a better future after high school had to try three times as hard just to get by on the regular work assignment. I found out after school when I applied myself to re-educated myself from the knowledge I wasn’t properly given to in my teen years I learned how to simplified the basic and an way that could be more easier to understand and remember after school Plus my sister is studying for her teaching degree and the lesson plan they are forcing the next generation is worst than what I have been through so parents who are not actually helping their children with their school by showing them How it is done? and Why you should do it? Is also a problem because knowledge also starts at the home so the parents have to be apart of their children work too

Black Employment. As a young African American that was starting off in the job employment field it was scary and hard I had no experience, little education and hardly anybody would give me a chance sometimes when I see another black employer I had hope and that change when they told me I don’t have enough experience or worst when they do hired me they will not think twice about ripping you off based on the color of your skin and that hurts more than a white or Latino person doing that and if you are in the employment field you were after most of it is a charge by the whites and Latinos and your employees who you know doesn’t deserve to be their or didn’t work as hard to get their like you did only got employed based on the color of their skin or they have somebody they know on the inside and the worst part about them is they get away with a lot of nonsense that if an African American would do the exact same thing would get fired and sometimes they would set you up on something that would get you fired and you can’t prove it or sue them because they know how their legal rights

Know your rights. Their have been a few cases were I have been a victim to the facts that I didn’t know my legal rights or labor laws or even the common laws. Knowing the law and using facts of what legal can help avoided those situations where being terminated from your work or thrown in jail would be less of an issue for many African Americans

Dividing of our peoples. Our people are not together as a race as we should be we are too separated from Thug Black, West Indian, African and the Thug Black people said some of us are not really black because we don’t act like a racial stereotype show on Television and Movies and then we are too focus about taking care of ourselves and not even helping out another follow Black person with the same problem we were dealing with. We will never unite as one whole race if we are too divided as a group of people’s

  17. This makes a lot of sense thanks you are brilliant if you came up with the script not even script a study actual facts imaginative people really listen I just bumped into this video and I'm glad I did I'm saving it man and you put this on DVD do you need to be taught in classes brilliant

  18. It's the bottom of the five issues. ..crime, cortuption, drugs, split and or single parent families , gangs and piss poor edecuation. .by the school system……would be How I assess this issue. ..and by that piss poor OPPORNITITUNITY for advancement, and lack of trade skills. And business opportunities.
Sort of in the nut shell.

    Bless you the next new

  19. I definitely agree with this video. And just because I agree with this video, it doesn’t mean that racism and historical inequality hasn’t played a role in the issues stated (particularly #5). I’m not victim, nor do I see myself as such. However, I would be lying if I said legitimate racism doesn’t play a role in my every day life.

  20. This isn't opinionated as much as it is a question: what about housing. I know for a long time, cities were filled with red lined properties, i.e. properties where black families were trying to sell down and white families moved out into the suburbs, especially around 1946. With a rapid population drop in the city housing, the value of the homes plummeted and black Americans were left with poor housing and always had trouble finding jobs and education. It seems to many that these property red linings and lack of access to education have persisted to today, so if anyone could provide more info to me on that, it would be greatly appreciated. I looked before and did not see a whole lot of info on what I mentioned in my comments.

  21. This dude knows nothing about black people. This prager university is BS. Racism is the system that causes the victim mentally. People kill in proximity. You have more whites killing whites but you don't hear people say white on white crime. You forgot high blood pressure and stress because of the lower pay blacks get as a whole. You go long enough living pay check to pay check you'll end up with high blood pressure. You forgot police shootings. We're shot at a higher rate than any other race. This dude right here is dead to me

  22. I agree. It is a black issue that only the black man/woman can fix. However no one wants to change who they are for the better of the community.

  23. Fathers have been removed, temporarily replaced with thugs and criminals that the mothers simply cannot spread their vaginas fast enough for,, then permanently replaced by uncle sam in the form of the gubmint check every month.

  24. He is so 100% right as a black female I am tired of walking down the street and being harassed by black man for no apparent reason just totally disrespectful and that's the shitt that leaves me Clueless especially the ones that hate on dark skin women but scream Donald Trump is a racist these people are mentally ill and with this gentleman is saying on this video is absolutely right they want everybody to feel sorry for them they want everybody to say sorry to them but they treat each other bad not all of us but the majority of us how the hell do we expect for someone to respect us if we don't respect ourselves it's never going to happen

  25. It’s time to man up and recognize you’ve been lied to by the Democrats… free government money is the biggest contributor to your demise… stop taking the bait… 👍🏽🚀🕺🏽

  26. While it's undeniably true that blacks have been, and continue to be victimized by racism within this society, we've got some very serious internal problems that we've just to resolve on our own.

It should never be stated that the residual problems stemming from this racist country, have no roots in white racism. That's just plainly absurd!

  27. I agree black back then were more successful they had they're own store and better citys now the black community is rough.

  28. The first problem should be getting their asses to the east coast to get on the government sponsored ships taking their asses back to freaka.

  29. I have not seen a more truthful and forthright explanation of the plight of black Americans. Thanks for posting.

  30. Wow!! This is great to hear from a black man. I lived in the inner city for years, and lived this culture. What he said is true. Thanks so much for this video.

  31. Maybe if we quit classifying people as races based on skin color, racism wouldn't be a thing? It's already been proven that you are more likely to be genetically similar to someone who is a different color than you, than to someone who is the same color. Melanin is such a tiny, infinitesimal fraction of our genetic code. The bible says we are all of one blood. In fact, no matter what religion you subscribe (or dont subscribe) to, we all come from the same place. I'm so tired of all this discussion of racism, racism, racism. I dont know ANY racists. I just know people who think others might be/are racist.

  32. I'm an American. My race is not of importance in anything I do. I believe as MLK, that it is the content of the character that makes all the difference.

  33. Im a Black women and wish I could give this video 100,000 likes. I cannot understand why being a baby momma is accepted and celebrated.

  34. Black people are some of the most generous, spiritual, and strong people that are constantly being lied to from those that gain power or make money from the victimization of black people. I really wish people like Al Sharpton would walk the streets of Druid Hill or Brooklyn Park in Baltimore and give it some real thought on what messages he's preaching, and how it affects these communities.

  35. The main victims of Racism in America and the West in general are White people and in particular white males , these group are open game for all kinds of bigotry and racism abuse on an industrial scale and with no concquences for those who practice it.

  36. Capitalism has sold black/ White folks on THE market from Day One. Capitalism use the discovery of diffrent skin colors to Sell. Attract White buyers or black buyers. What was THE big problem to Sell Pontiac but not to Sell heroin ? Its an easy cheap tactic. Religion/ monarchy has killed more People than both National Socialism & Communism combined. Capitalism Still protect aristocrats,Royalism, religion. IF you try make your own bed count all THE dead bodies from capitalism. WHO provide THE guns,Canons to buildt THE British empire ??? Try a finger Up your anal a smell Boris Great Britain.

  37. You forgot to mention the Democratic party aand the left in general who pump this brainwashing into their heads in the first place .
The Democrats and Left are race baiters and dividers of society be it Gender . Race . LGBT. Religion . They love to plant division as it allows them power over society

  38. I am Italian. Italians also at one point were strongly victimized in a way that black people are now. Overwhelmingly killed by their countrymen. I support this book. I want to buy it now.

  39. He immediately lost me at number 5…a victim mentality is something that everyone holds today. White men are starting to grow in their victim mentality as well. They are very open in complaining right now that if they made this video they would be considered racist. And constantly talking about attacks on their values and ways of life. When we do it…it's "victimology", but when they do it it's okay. Black people are guilty of this, but so is everyone else.

His fourth point…it's just pointing to the polarization in politics and public discourse. No one really wants to hear from the other side. Black people are guilty of shutting down dissent, but so are others in closing their ears and demonizing the other side. I recently left a debating community because no matter how moderate or reasonable my points were, if I opposed a Republican I would be demonized as a whiny, baby-killing liberal, and if I opposed a Democrat I would be labeled an ignorant uncle Tom. On the extreme ends no one is listening and everyone want to play the "what about" game rather than consider the other side's perspective and points. This just ignores groupthink as part of the problem in general and does more finger pointing at how the other side doesn't listen rather than actually listening to the other side.

Point Three…is legit. However, let me point out that the left typically ignores how Black culture plays a role, and coddle this population by not holding them accountable….and the right ignores the structural aspects of these things and how racial bias. plays a role in our criminal justice system,

Ultimately if the woman is supporting the child and the father isn't, he deserves all the blame…and especially if he chose to leave the family. And of course both parents chose to have the child out of wedlock, but marriage is merely a social construct therefore it is senseless to thing the problem is they are having kids out of wedlock…the real problem is having children before your are financially and emotionally stable and mature.

And of course number one is a huge logical fallacy. At no point does he demonstrate these progressive policies lead to and perpetuate these other policies. He takes the stance that because these policies don't work they perpetuate all of the above issues rather than actually considering the specific issues that lead to these policies not working. It can very well be a cultural thing at which point, how can a policy fix something ingrained in a culture? This video wants to blame progressivism for the issues in the black community without actually explaining how progressivism is connected to each.

  41. Single, black, female = this video is 100!
Oh and the solution for Problem #2 is actually very simple: Stop sleeping with people you are not married to.

  42. Okay but nothing you said was actually backed by facts or statistics. And to deny systemic racism is asinine

  43. Republicans have nothing to do with blacks, not since after 1865. Blacks have voted Democrat since 1920’s almost exclusively but blame Republicans for their lot in life and never Democrats. Gotta love Democrats — they get blacks to kill each other and still get all their votes. Incredible!

  44. Remnants of systematic oppression has led to the lack of black fathers…there is no coincidence that gov't programs exclude father's from homes. This is the war on black families. #jgiddinsthefather

  45. I agree with this video. However, it needs to be understood from a historical aspect as well. We as black people were enslaved and pitted against one another for 400 years and used by others to build their institutions. Our communities were pumped with drugs and hate groups such as the KKK were used to keep blacks in “our place”. We tried to overcome the hateful past by building our own communities such as black Wall Street and Rosewood in Florida but jealousy and race riots destroyed them. This video makes it seem as if we have never tried to improve our communities as a whole and we have. Everytime we tried or were presumed to be doing better than the white man they came and destroyed everything. Black peoples have created jazz, rock and roll and the most popular hip hop genre to cope with our pain. Now other cultures have adopted these genres. Black people are not just lazy people who don’t care about anything. We are innovators of culture and freedom. We are inventors and overcame great adversity. Opportunity was purposefully withheld from us and only recently was Jim Crow lifted. It’s only been slightly over fifty years. Do people expect us to overcome hundreds of years of slavery and oppression in just fifty years? Give us time to cope and build. We will become the great people that we always have been. The creators of the Harlem Renaissance and the American Civil Rights Movement also the overcomers of the apartheid, we will overcome. Stay blessed my people.

  46. How to solve raceial problems in America? Stop talking about it let us stop calling me a White and stop calling him black just call him and me a man

  47. Why can't more black people have this kind of logical thinking. It's easier to be told you are a victim of a racist system and are set up to fail regardless of your efforts.

  48. D baby mama part got me. I've been saying this 4 ages!!! We black women want other people to respect us, but some of us keep disrespecting ourselves. I'm not saying being a baby mama is ridiculous, I'm just saying it's definitely bad when we try to make it a trend!!! It's so sad. 🤦🤦🤦

  49. Black on black crime. Stop killing each other over your favorite color. What are y’all? 3 or 4 year olds? Acting like it’s pre k out on the streets. Pathetic.

  50. I am a Malaysian Indian Tamil and I am of the opinion that the same can be said about MIT to a degree that it is a self inflicted problem thus the solution is within the MIT's control.

  51. I just knew this comment section was gonna be a mess but its not that gives me hope i dont wanna harm or point fingers im just tryong make the bills this month im worried sick am i good enoufgh father to this little girl why do i procrastante so much.
