I’d completed my degree, and I was offered a permanent position to teach in Emerald. I taught year five and year three for a total of four years in Emerald. I really couldn’t have asked for a better place to begin my career. I had a great deal of
support while I was there. I entered those gates as a graduate, but four years later, I barely
recognise the teacher I am. Really changed me for the
better, without a doubt. My family meant a lot, so I was really concerned
moving away from home, that it would be really tough. It was a 12-hour drive
from home to Emerald, so that was pretty tough to say goodbye. Home is always there, but Emerald has really given me a great start to my career.
