I’m studying my Diploma in Early Childhood
Education and Care and that gives me the ability to work in a childcare centre, or a kindergarten
assistant. What I enjoy about Childhood Education and
Care is seeing a child learn and seeing every step that they have in that journey, just
the smiles on children’s faces when they are learning something new just makes my day.
My inspiration to study the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care was something
that I wanted to do for a long time and it’s been the best decision made in my life.
I chose Chisholm due to the flexibility. Coming in at my age, 32, I needed something that
would allow me to work as well as study and the diploma allows that. A highlight of the
course has been getting a role in the field whilst I’m completing the course – it was
something that was unexpected and to be able to work in the field while I’m studying has
assisted me with some assignments and essays and also helps financially.
I think the key to being a good Early Childhood educator is patience, learning about the children
and their likes and dislikes and having fun. I think following your passion is very important.
I’m in an industry which I’m passionate about and doing a role that I have wanted to do
for a long time – wish I had have done it sooner.
