president moon jaein has identified the
overriding importance of reforming South Korea’s education system based on
fairness eliminating the influence of social status and privileges once and
for all president moon was chairing a meeting in
Seoul this morning with government officials including Education Minister
Yuen Hey to discuss reforms the first such
meeting he’s held since taking office it comes just three days after he
highlighted the importance of improving the college admissions system in his
budget speech at the National Assembly the center of the plan is increasing the
proportion of regular admissions for college which focuses more on academic
test scores instead of extracurricular activities however as that isn’t
considered enough actually the president says there also needs to be a more
impartial screening of students records in general he ordered officials to come
