Local festival offered education and entertainment for kids


TONIGHT’ EVENT AS A REPRESENTATIVE FOR OUR STATE OF ADDICTION PROJECT. [SCREAMING] CAROLYN: THAT’S THE SOUND OF FUN, HEARD THROUGHOUT AN EVENT IN BULLITT COUNTY TODAY. THE ANNUAL KIDSFEST PROVIDED EDUCATION AND ACTIVITIES FOR BOTH KIDS AND ADULTS. THE EVENT, SPONSORED BY THE BULLITT COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, FEATURED NEARLY 60 BOOTHS WITH INFORMATION ON SERVICES AND KIDS ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY.>>IT’S JUST GREAT WHEN THE DAY FINALLY GETS HERE AND YOU CAN SEE ALL THESE SMILING HAPPY FACES, AND ALL THESE FAMILIES ENJOYING THEMSELVES, AND GETTING A BETTER SENSE OF WHAT’S IN THE COMMUNITY AND WHAT OUR CHAMBER IS, AND ALL OF OUR PARTNERS. THE BULLITT OPIOID ADDICTION AND TEAM WAS AT TODAY’S EVENT, GIVING OUT INFORMATION AND PROVIDING OVERDOSE RESCUE TRAINING FOR ALL AGES. THE NONPROFIT HANDED OUT FIRST AID KITS, WHICH INCLUDED A CPR MASK, RUBBER GLOVES, AND AN AUTOMATIC NALOXONE INJECTOR. NALOXONE REVERSES THE EFFECTS OF AN OVERDOSE. ORGANIZERS OF B.O.A.T. WANT KIDS TO LEARN HOW TO HELP FAMILY MEMBERS AND FRIENDS.>>WHETHER WE WANT TO ADMIT IT OR NOT, THESE KIDS ARE INVOLVED. THEY’RE CASUALTIES OF WHAT’S HAPPENING NOW. SO LET’S EMPOWER OUR CHILDREN.
