Lesson 13: “Turning Hearts in the End Time” – 3ABN Sabbath School Panel – Q2 2019

the Bible tells us in the beginning was the word and the Word was with God and the Word was God it says to receive with meekness the implanted word which is able to save your souls and to be diligent to present yourself approved to God rightly dividing the word of truth join us now for the 3abn Sabbath School panel our study today is family season's hello and welcome again to another 3abn Sabbath School panel we have arrived this is our very last lesson of this quarter lesson number 13 entitled turning hearts in the end time and you know what what a what a perfect title for this last lesson as we are living in the last days we certainly need more than ever hearts turn to Jesus Christ what do you guys stand absolutely 100% and so we are excited that you have joined us we want to remind you again even though we're on the last quarter here or the last excuse me the last lesson we want to remind you of how you can get a copy of that lesson of course you can go to your local seventh-day Adventist Church and I'm sure they would love to put one in your hands for free as you can study with them and of course you can go to a bee SG dot Adventist dot org and you can access the lesson there for free but I want to take the time now to introduce this incredible panel whom I have had the privilege and honor of sharing it with and to mark directly to my left is mrs. Jill Morricone general manager of 3abn it's a privilege to be here Pastor Ryan loves sharing the Word of God praise the Lord and miss Shelly Quinn wonderful to have you here and always Pastor John Lowe McCain it's a blessing to have you we're expecting the Lord to continue to bless us and so we can bless others amen amen and joining us once again is Pastor Tom Ferguson who is the pastor of the Marion seventh-day Adventist Church District yes so it's a blessing to have you as well brother thank you wonderful well before we dive deep into this very powerful study we definitely need to go to the Lord in prayer so Pastor Tom I'm going to ask you who had mind just to have a opening he was the only father thank you for the privilege of meeting together and once again opening your word and hearing from you we invite your Holy Spirit to guide this study you know each and every one of us intimately and I just pray that you ministered to us as we study together in Jesus name Amen turning hearts in the end time and as I said earlier perhaps no other time at least in our lifetime and for sure in the past few centuries is there a better time than to study this particular lesson because we are living in the last days I think of the time of Noah Jesus spoke of the time of Noah he says that his second coming his return the this the sense in which the world is is in at that particular moment is reflecting that at the times of Noah which was a time of judgment and of course we know by careful Bible study we are also living in the last days and we are also living in a time of judgment and so goddess is screaming to us from with love and with compassion from the scriptures pleading for his children for their hearts to be turned back and of course our I just wanted this is from our lesson I thought this is really really good our lives are lived in stages and we've already established that throughout this lesson throughout each one of these lessons it says sometimes those stages are going well and that's true sometimes not sometimes families are intact and strong and sometimes they are fragile and even shattered whatever the case may be we have to promise of we have the promise of God's Word to lean on we must not ever stop depending on the Word of God for obviously it brings hope and certainty and so that's exactly what we're going to continue on doing is going to the Word of God allowing the Word of God to teach us and to tell us how it is that we can turn our hearts to him our memory text for this particular lesson is found in Malachi chapter 4 verses 5 & 6 Malachi chapter 4 verses 5 & 6 I'm going to read that now it says behold I will send you Elijah the Prophet before the coming of the Great and dreadful day of the Lord and he will turn the hearts of the father's to the children and the hearts of the children to the father's lest I come and strike the earth with a curse so he's promising to send Elijah and we're gonna see what that means in just a few moments and of course by sending Elijah this message the sharing of this special message is supposed to turn the hearts of the children to the father's and of course the father's to the children now that's an Old Testament in fact it's the last book of the Old Testament comes from the book of Malachi but it's interesting how this same message this same theme continues over into the New Testament and in the lesson you'll see that it gives us four scriptural examples of how we can see this theme continued through even airing during the days of Jesus Christ notice Matthew chapter 11 verses 14 and 15 notice the context here it says and if you are willing to receive it this is Jesus speaking of John the Baptist he says he is Elijah who has come now some people find this a little confusing because when John himself was asked are you Elijah what did he say he said no I'm not Elijah and so what is Jesus saying here we'll see in just a few moments but he says he is Elijah who has come he who has ears to hear let him hear so he's pleading with the people please listen to John what he has to say what he has to share he has come as we're gonna see in the spirit of Elijah to share a special message Matthew chapter 17 verse 10 same thing notice what the Bible says again Matthew 17 verse 10 says and his disciples asking him saying again why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first so again there's this theme that carries over this particular text that we just read from Malachi chapter 4 verses 5 & 6 even still to this day over in Jerusalem the Orthodox Jews for many many centuries since this has been given obviously many millennia we see very clearly that they're still waiting for the literal presence the literal arrival of the prophet Elijah and so Jesus clarified this very clearly but of course we know the Orthodox Jews did not believe that Jesus was the literal son of God and really didn't trust his word very much in fact they would nail him to a tree eventually but in right here in matthew 17 verse 10 they're asking then why does the scribe said that elijah must come they're a little confused is this elijah is this not elijah is he the Comedie not to come what are we to believe mark chapter 6 verse 15 again the same theme continues others said of course it is Elijah another said it is a prophet or like one of the prophets or referring to John the Baptist again you can see that there was a little bit of a disagreement of contention among the people is this Elijah is it not wait he is Elijah no he's just a prophet they were really unsure but obviously this this this continual theme would continue all the way through Israel's history because as I said earlier they are still waiting for Elijah to come today and of course Luke chapter 1 verse 17 the Bible says he will also go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah that's the key point there when John was asked are you Elijah was he lying when he said no no he was he was not the literal person of Elijah that kind of goes into the truth about the the state of the Dead obviously when Elijah obviously when he was translated into heaven he's in heaven he's not coming back he's he's not coming back through John the Baptist in a spiritualistic form he what what it says here is that he came in the spirit and power of Elijah in other words the same spirit that influenced and encouraged and inspired Elijah to preach that revival and reformative message in his day is the same message that John the Baptist came preaching and we'll see what that message is in just a few moments to turn notice here it says he will offer well here it is right here he will also go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah in Luke 1:17 to turn the hearts of the father's to the children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just to make ready a people here it is prepared for the Lord that is the message a message of reform a message of grace a message of compassion the love of God but with with that meaning of the power of a message of repentance and turning away from sin we're coming back to the Lord allowing God to transform your life before here that's what the Bible says that we need to be able to stand confident at the appearing of Jesus because we have prepared we have allowed Christ to transform our life now it's interesting when you go back to Malachi chapter 3 again we just read from Malachi for a few moments ago in Malachi chapter 3 very interestingly enough we see the response of Israel because God pleaded with his people to return to him but he was met with a very arrogant response notice what Malachi chapter 3 verse 7 says here it says yet from the days of your fathers you have gone away from my ordinances and have not kept them returned to me and I will return to you says the Lord of Hosts but then notice what it says but you said this is God he's telling the response but you said and what way shall we return you know I think God is very clear the Bible says that God is not the author of confusion he's very straightforward he does not change when he delivers a message it's very clear he's not delivering a confusing message or some message that needs to be decrypted of some way these people were they had their hearts hardened and there's almost like a very arrogant response and what really Jesus what way do we need to return to you very very serious indeed the Lord would give one last call for revival through a heart turning reform God poured out his spirit and to John the Baptist and through him the same reforming message of revival would be declared in the days of Elijah and so what does it mean I guess we should address this what does it mean to turn the hearts what is what is what is God saying you know turn the hearts to the fathers of the fathers to the children in the lesson this lesson suggests that there are a few biblical applications we can apply as to the meaning of these words and I happen to agree with these because they're very very biblical the first way that we can apply this very clearly is that it refers to the reconciliation of the people of Israel with the Lord notice Isaiah chapter 63 verse 16 Isaiah 63 verse 16 says though Abraham was ignorant of us and Israel does not acknowledge us you O Lord are our father and so we have our Holy Father and we had to turn our hearts to him and so number one it refers to the reconciliation of people of any of the people of Israel with the Lord number two it refers to the reconnecting of later generations with their faithful ancestors through covenant renewal the prophetic call for God's people to follow the faith of the patriarchs was given repeatedly in the Old Testament you see this theme all the way out all the way through the Old Testament and even actually into the new remember remember the the message that Stephen delivered he actually was was condemning some of the some of the some of the people of before and of course the people of his day for stoning and killing the prophets that were preaching the true message of God and so he was trying to turn the people back to that holy message notice what Deuteronomy chapter 4 verses 29 through 31 tells us again reconnecting of later generations with their faithful ancestors through covenant renewal this is Deuteronomy 4:29 through 31 the Bible says but from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul when you are in distress and all these things come upon you in the latter days when you turn to the Lord your God and obey his voice for the Lord your God is a merciful God he will not forsake you nor destroy you nor forget the Covenant of your fathers which he swore to them so again this is the Lord he's turning he's trying to point the children back to that wonderful covenant renewal that he had but he had established through their ancestors and the third point again that how we can determine what this word or this these terms are or phrase means turn the hearts notice what number three is here this is very very interesting it refers to the restoration and renewal of family relationships again we're talking about family seasons parent-child relationships are practical expressions of covenant faithfulness with God here – fulfillment of responsibilities – parents and children are interwove with continued inheritance of the land and God's blessing that's why proverbs chapter 2 verse 21 says for the upright will dwell in the land and the blameless will remain in it okay so turning the hearts of the children to the father's all in all we know ultimately that it's God trying to unite the families turn the children to their earthly fathers and their earthly fathers to their children and of course us back to the original message that God had given through the ancestors through the patriarchs through the Old Testament prophets and through the New Testament prophets as well one must seek to restore the relationship with God before they seek to restore relationship with family one must precede the other and we know we need a restoration with family but my friends I want to appeal this to you in closing turn to the Lord now turn to his truth because once you establish that beautiful relationship with the Lord and you were walking in his ways then the family will follow amen thank you so much pastor Ryan what an incredible job I love to hear each person on the panel because everyone shares from their perspective and their walk with God what a beautiful picture of turning our hearts back to God returning to him thank you for that on Monday I have family reunion and I want to invite you to turn with me to first Kings we're gonna spend our time at first Kings chapter 16 and 17 this is really a contrast of two leaders we're gonna look at two different leaders two different lists you know this is the last lesson of the quarter I got to get my listing two different lists one leader seeks to turn people's heart away from God the other leader seeks to turn people's heart toward God so we're going to take a look at that first we're gonna look at the negative turning hearts away from God this leader is King Ahab so we're in 1st Kings 16 this is six keys that I found in this passage for turning hearts away from God number one K number one is that leaders have influence they can either work their influence for or against God in Ahab's case it worked against cotton first King 16 versus 29 and 30 in the 38th year of ASA king of Judah they had the son of Omri became king over Israel and they had the son of Omri reigned over Israel in Samaria 22 years now he had the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the Lord more than what's that word Oh who were before him now you see this throughout the history of the children of Israel that every time there was a king who served God there was a form or measure of repentance the people began to break away from idol worship they began to return to worship the true God but every time there was a king who walked away from God the people followed the influence of Ahab's leadership turning people away from God number two we see that evil is progressive first King 16 verses 25 and 26 hombre did evil in the eyes of the Lord no hos armory he's a had dad so a had dad did evil in the eyes of the Lord and did worse than all who were before him he walked in all the ways of Jeroboam the son of Nebat and in his sin by which he had made Israel sin provoking the Lord thought of Israel to anger with their idols so what does the Bible say they have dad was worse than everyone before him but then what does it say about Ahab Ahab was worse than everyone before him so that tells us evil is progressive they thought 8 Hub dad was bad but you get to Ahab and it gets even worse number 3 who we marry impacts our future and that of the people underneath us that's right we know Ahab married Jezebel first King 16 31 it says it came to pass as though it had been a trivial thing for him to walk in the sins of jeroboam the son of nebat that he took his wife Jezebel the daughter of Ishmael king of the sidonians and he went and served bail and worshipped him now Jezebel's name is related to one of the titles given to bail who was the god of rain or they considered the god of rain and her dad was king of tyre and sidon and many sources say she was a priest of this idol worship their Jed the Bela convinced a hab to plunge into idolatrous and immoral worship of bail first Kings 2125 there was no one like they have who sold himself to do wickedness in the sight of the Lord because Jezebel his wife stirred him up so who we marry impacts our future number four a have we see lead in idol worship first King sixteen we're back to first King 16:31 it says eight have went and served bail and worshiped him he also built a temple and an altar in Samaria for this pagan god and encouraged the people to worship fail number five they have allowed a man to rebuild the walls and gates of Jericho and direct defiance of God's Word now it's interesting we won't read all that but in a Hyundai's while he was king there was a certain man who rebuilt Jericho now you think that's not a big deal but if you go back to Joshua look it up later Joshua 626 Joshua had said cursed is the man who builds the city Jericho he shall lay its foundation with his firstborn and with his youngest he should set up the gates and that's exactly what happened the man who built Jericho his firstborn died when they laid the foundation and his youngest son died when they finished and put the gates in so Ahab knew this prophecy back in Joshua and yet he openly allowed them to go against the direct command of God number six even with such open sin and leading other people to sin because that's what I have did he openly sinned and he led his people to sin God is so merciful he still calls us to repentance first kings 21 27 to 29 when they have heard these words he tore his clothes and put sackcloth on his body and fasted in land sackcloth and went about mourning and the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite saying see how ahab has humbled himself before me because he's humbled himself i will not bring the calamity in his days so i don't know about you but if it were me I'd be like he did a great deal of evil we're done with it but yet God said I'm going to extend that judgment until after his death there was mercy now let's look at a leader who turned people's hearts toward God that is the Prophet you know I jump we're in first Kings chapter 17 again we see point number one the influence of a leader but in this case it's the influence of a leader who turned people's hearts back toward God Elijah I look at as the Martin Luther of the Old Testament he single-handedly challenged the whole priesthood of state religion and all the people of the realm to a decisive test at Mount Carmel which Shelly a look at atlanta's mentioned in the new testament more than any other Old Testament prophet his name means Jehovah is my god or the Lord is my god number two when God calls you speak for him despite the consequences 14:17 one Elijah the Tishbite of the inhabitants of Gilead said to Ahab as the Lord God of Israel lives before whom I stand there should not be dune or rain these years accepted my word now if I were Elijah I'm a little afraid they have the powerful man and he's an evil man married to an even more even more wicked wife and yet he spoke the word of the Lord he was obedient despite the consequences that might have come number three walk in obedience to his commands so God told the allowed to go hide yourself remember by the brook Cherith and there God provided food and water for him and then later the brook dried up and God said go find refuge in Zarephath and Elisha what does it say he got up and he went he was obedient to God's commands number four be willing to trust until God shows you what to do next you know when the water dried up and what I mean if I were Elijah he was sitting there by the brook and saying where am I supposed to go but what happened God instructed him at the right time where he was to go number five the safest place in the world is where God wants you to be that's the safest place to be why go to Zarephath I've often wondered that why not to a widow in Israel why was Elijah sent to Zarephath we know there are fact is located in Phoenicia it's the very heart of veil a country or idol worship here God shows he's going to defeat male in his own territory God's people will fare better than males the main purpose of this narrative is to demonstrate on Phoenician soil where Bale is worshipped that God has power over things in which Bale has found number 6 God's servants are easily recognized remember when he gets to Zarephath there's a widowed woman there first came 1712 she says as the Lord your God lives I do not have read only a handful of flour and I'm gonna eat that and then we're gonna die you notice she said as the Lord your God lives in the next chapter Obadiah who was a prophet of God said to Elijah as the Lord your God lives so that indicates she recognized him as a man of God she recognized wow he's a prophet number 7 our upbringing and our past do not determine our destiny first kin 17 verse 15 she was raised heathen women following worshiping bailed and yet what did she do she chose to go away and do according to the word of Elijah and she in her household ate many days she made a choice to obey what Elijah and the God of Israel were telling her to do number 8 some things are unexplainable but we can still trust her son died and she said I don't even know what is happening and why did my son die and then God threw Elijah brought her son back to life some things are unexplainable in life but we can still trust and finally experiencing God at work is way more powerful than reading about it at the very end of experiencing God raised her son back to life she said by this I know you are a man of God and that the word of the Lord in your mouth is the truth Wow praise the Lord I hope to be in last day Elijah I hope to have the Spirit of the Lord and be able to declare that message the way he did praise the Lord we're going to take a short break we'll be right back ever wish you could watch a three-bean Sabbath school panel again or share it on Facebook Instagram or Twitter well you can by visiting 3abn hearts at the altar you know this is so interesting and thank you for setting this up so well Jill because I'm not sure where I'm going with this lesson in our Sabbath schools quarterly as in three first Kings 1823 third forty-five and though the context is totally different how can the principal seen in this story applied to family life well I don't know about you but I don't often think about the profits of bail and a had been Elijah on top of Mount Carmel as having anything to do with family life so let's take a quick look at this first of all as has been set up you know in Deuteronomy God told him he told us people don't turn to the left or the right to follow after other gods but here you've got wicked King Ahab he's idolatrous and he hates the prophet Elijah because the prophet Elijah tells the truth he's not worried about what he's saying they have is supporting pagan prophets who were politically correct their message is what the king wanted to hear and so now what happens is God has shut up the ring at Elijah's request for three and a half years and Ahab is saying calling Elijah the trouble of Israel he is upset with him so now we're getting ready to have a showdown if you will between the deities these pagan deities and the true God and they have invites all the people of Israel 850 pagan prophets are invited now only the 450 prophets of Bale show up the 400 prophets of Asherah do not and that's who Queen Jezebel supported but now we're about to have this showdown between Yahweh and Bale in first Kings 18 verse 20 let's look at that Elijah came to all the people and in let me tell you he had a heart that one of these people to turn back to the faith of their fathers he wanted covenant renewal and what he says to the people is how long will you falter between two opinions if the Lord is God follow him but if Bale follow him but the people and certain ham not the word isn't this kind of reminiscent of Joshua's challenge choose you this day whom you're going to serve right it's important that we take a stand for the Lord you know a lot of people worship the God itself and that's why they don't stand for the Lord so let me just kind of I'm gonna pull this together here with a recap if you will what happens hey I mean Elijah says okay prophets built you build your sacrifice here I'm gonna build it over here and the God who reigns down fire and consumes the sacrifices that suits the true God well the prophets have bailed like hey this is really good and an Ahab says I'm going to call on the name of the Lord and so the interesting thing is Bale was a deity I've read where they said he was a deity of fertility but he was the deity of storm of lightning and wind and all of this so boy his prophets think our deities got this you know they were absolutely convinced he was going to do it but they build their altar pieces that don't light a fire under it and it's nice and dry and the prophets of bale build up their sacrifice and then they're leaping about the altar a hat I keep saying that Elijah makes fun of them he actually mocks them I mean they're calling on bail and and he's he says well maybe he's gone away for a little bit maybe he's out to lunch then they begin to cut themselves the profits of bail until the blood is fro glowing really and still from morning tonight nothing so the Haven priests failure after they have their failure with their sacrifice its Elijah ster look at verse 30 Elijah said to all the people come near to me and the people came near and he repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down verse 32 says he built an altar in the name of the Lord and look at verse 36 it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice what does this bring to mind I mean but now we're looking at sanctuary are we not this is a time of day that drew the attention to them so in verse 37 he cries out he says hear me O Lord hear me that these people may know that you are the Lord God and that you have turned their heart back to you again oh you know what this is so amazing we cannot turn anyone's heart back to God we can't even turn our own heart back to the Lord it is God x5 3132 says it's God who grants forgiveness and repentance it's a gift so we've got a call on the name of the Lord for that now Elijah is praying for a miraculous sight so that the people will know it's God and and he's praying that God oh I forgot to say this once he sets up his he tells him okay build this little trough around it now fill the trough with four water pots of water not once not twice but three times he's drowning his sacrifice right I mean it's wet and it's got a trough of water around Elijah prays and what happens boy the true God Yahweh shows up with his power and he consumes all of the sacrifice and all of the altar there's no way this was just a lightning strike it was a powerful thing all consuming fire falls and you know what the people faces they're going oh God the Lord he is God so this confession and praise burst forward from their lips so let's look real quickly my heard many times if you are a parent and you were worried like Elijah was about the people if you're worried about a wayward child what we have to remember is that it is God who's constantly drawing the wayward toward us Elijah focused on rebuilding the altar he was very intentional and this is equivalent to us having say a family devotional time what we need to do is be intentional take this opportunity to talk to God speak to one another about the Lord and receive a new every day his his free gift of salvation his grace and know that he is the Lord who sanctifies you the invitation when he said come near to me doesn't that remind you of what the Savior how he welcomes sinners in Matthew 11:28 29 he says come near to me all ye who labor and are heavy-laden and what's going to happen I will give you rest take my yoke upon me learn from me for I am gentle and lowly in heart and you will find rest for yourselves so as we are praying for our family members God's response may not be as dramatic as it was to Elijah but he will give us the courage to stand for truth and our home he will give us the wisdom and to help you know he always helps anyone in need anyone who's calling on his name and like Elijah we can have faith that whatever God commands us to do he's going to provide us the resources to do it right so this there's so much more that we could do with this story I actually had 14 pages of notes and had to reduce it to four but this is such a wonderful story I want you to look at this story afterwards and look at more ways that you can apply this to your home amen Thank You Shelly Wow can't believe we're down to the last yeah pastor Tom you're gonna be the last shot heard over the bow but this has been an exciting lesson through this quarter and coming out of Revelation and coming into this about relationships it was somewhat of a challenge but we've learned to appreciate the content and thank the author for for giving us a lot to work with because it did require a lot of homework and we hope we're blessing you because of that turning hearts at the Jordan June 26 I hope you follow me with that now this lesson talked about it led out by talking about the prediction of the coming of of John the Baptist and what that said to me is as is always the case the King doesn't come except he is preceded by a call that he is coming we are in fact today spiritual John the Baptist we are in fact today in the spirit and power of Elijah the message that Elijah bore to Ahab and Jezebel is that they had forsaken the commandments of the Lord we are in fact today in in a setting that's just like the days of Elijah Elijah was a man raised up to leave Israel God's people there are many ministers today today who are called to lead God's people but the unfortunate and I'm going to be candid about this the unfortunate mixture is they have linked themselves to a woman's symbolic of a church whose allegiance is not to God but to other gods because there's no way that in the Christian world today the teachings could exist that are not supported by Scripture except another woman is speaking to the man of God they're getting these teachings from a woman that God has not called thus the picture of Revelation there's that woman that is Jezebel who has seduced my prophets the message of Revelation that we talked about last quarter this is a prime example it's what what happened Elijah was called to say to a man that God had called and I want to say this and this came out of one of my sermons I Wow a hab was attracted to Jezebel not because of how she walked but because of how he refused to walk hey hab was not Jezebel was not attracted to the scent of Ahab's Cologne but he was attracted to the scent of her sin and a man that refuses to walk with his God will eventually walk with another God and what happened on Mount Carmel was the showdown to reclaim the people of God so Ahab was a man that God had called and the mixture today which is sadly in the Christian world is we have we are listening to and we see doctrines that God has never put in the mouths of many of those men that are claiming allegiance to God how can you test whether or not there is an allegiance Elijah said it well I'm not the one that troubles Israel but you are the one and that you have forsaken the commandments of the Lord go with me to first John chapter 2 and then we're going to end on the points of repentance what does repentance do because Elijah calls for repentance he called for repentance but how can you tell whether or not a man is connected to the Lord that's a very key issue how can you tell whether or not the man that claims his connection to God is connected to God first John 2 verse 3 and 4 she'll read that for us know by this we know that we know him if we keep his Commandments he who says I know him and does not keep his Commandments is a liar and the truth is not in him that's exactly what Elijah said they have I have not troubled Israel I have stood firm on the commandments of the Lord but you have forsaken the commandments of the Lord and there are many leaders today claiming a connection with God but God is saying based on the acid test I don't know you I don't know you they claim to be connected but he says I don't know you because you're not keeping my Commandments if you are part of a fellowship I say this with all humility look at the commandments of God not the 640 laws of the Old Testament but the 10 commandments of God of which Jesus it's a reflection of the character of God's divinity look at the commandment of God and ask yourself the question is there something there specifically that is not being upheld in my congregation in my place of worship I could give you one right off the bat the Sabbath is totally ignored in so many walks of denominations and congregations and although it may be just one instance it is the sign between us and God that we might know that he's the God that sanctifies us Ezekiel 20 verse 12 and 20 it's a sign that we might know that he's the one that sanctifies us so you cannot get rid of the sign as an a sign in the world you cannot get rid of every sign in the traffic circle and expect to have a safe journey so to get rid of the sign God has called us to put the sign back so I'm going to say in this particular presentation one thing that repentance does it doesn't just give you a new message it changes the way you walk and whatever has been removed it puts it back repentance calls for those things that were removed to be put back and that's why first Kings 18 verse thirty one of the first things that Liza did was look at what he did one of the first things he did whoever gets there first read it for me one of the first things to digital first Kings 18 verse 30 okay Jill you have it 30 or 31 verse 30 they knew I just said all the people come near to me so all the people came near to him and he repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down what did he lie to do he repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down and is it is it amazing go to Isaiah 58 it is amazing how whatever is broken down needs to be repaired what specifically has the Lord told us to repair and I'm going to I want to read it from the King James Version okay good good Shelley start with verse 12 okay Isaiah 58 and verse 12 those from among you shall build the old waste places you shall raise up the foundations of many generations and you shall be called the repairer of the breach the restorer of streets to dwell in if you turn away your foot from the Sabbath from doing your pleasure on my holy day and call the sabbath a delight the holy day of the Lord honorable and shall honor him not doing your own ways nor finding your own pleasure nor speaking your own words then you shall delight yourself in the Lord and I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth and feed you with a heritage of Jacob your father the mouth of the Lord has spoken repair restore raise up rebuild repair restore raise up rebuild one of the first things that repentance calls us to do is to repair the altar of the Lord that has been broken down you see Christian leaders today my challenge is not just to people watching this program or listening to the program but to Christian leaders if you want to be the man that God can use in an effective manner to leader to lead a revolution of Reformation and Christianity because that's that's very needed I mean Christianity today has become in a great degree in entertainment industry but but it has to go back to the word industry built on God's Word and his truth repair the altar of the Lord that was broken down and specifically Shelley pointed out the foundations of many generations that had been broken down in christendom today is the Lord's Day the Sabbath has been broken down and strangely enough when a when the Lord says remember the Sabbath to keep it holy and a religious leader tells you to forget it something is suspect yes you have to get to the place Christian you have to get to the place where you are more desirous of honoring the voice of God remember than the voice of a religious leader that says forget because that's exactly what happened to Ahab Jezebel and they have led the people to forget but Elijah led the people to remember and he repaired the altar that was broken down so what is repentance does very quickly repentance changes your heart repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand Matthew 3 verse 2 repentance produces righteous fruit bear fruit worthy of repentance Matthew chapter 3 verse 8 repentance brings rebuke as John made it clear it is not lawful for you to have her stir and rebuke John made that very clear when he saw what was wrong he called it out repentance is also the step to removing sin John says repent for the remission of your sin repent and be baptized for the remission of your sin you cannot repent and leave baptism out you have to wash away that past you have to bury that past repentance should also produce fruit bear fruit worthy of repentance repentance remove the focus from self if somebody has two tunics and he wants the other one give it to him don't make self the focus if God calls you to give up something give it up for the glory of God and finally repentance points everyone to Christ behold the lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world our only hope is to repair what has been broken down and point people to Christ amen you know when you went to where you did there made me think of a text out of Isaiah chapter 4 verse 1 Isaiah for 1 and in the immediate context it's talking about the result of Israel but I look at this in a prophetic sense and it says in that day 7 women hold of one man yes saying we will eat our own food where our own apparel only let us be called by your name to take away our approach you know we think about not only was it Elijah but it's also like what Noah had to preach every time there's a judgment that's happening it seems as if the enemy has infiltrated God's people in his church and here in these last days we've had the influence of 1260 years of darkness an attempted reformation out of that confusion in our midst and as a result there are many people that are not hearing the truth and so I was asking myself I said what is the mission or the call of the seventh-day Adventist Church in these last days and just this morning I opened up the book last day events these are some of the compilation of writings of eg white that I found these powerful quotes that I want to share because I actually found the answer to my own question the distinct the distinctive mission of seventh-day Adventists is what this is the catagory it's on page 45 of that book if you're interested the Lord has made us the depositories of his law he has committed to us the sacred and eternal truth which is to be given to others in faithful warnings reproofs and encouragement now this next one seventh-day Adventists have been chosen by God as a peculiar people separate from the world by the by the great cleaver of his truth he has cut them out from the quarry of the world and brought them into connection with himself he has made them his representatives and has called them to be ambassadors for him in the last work of salvation the greatest wealth of truth this is the one that really hit me the greatest wealth of truth ever entrusted to mortals the most solemn and fearful warnings ever sent by God to man have been committed to them to be given to the world so we're talking about a holistic approach to a message that God is pleading with the world and when you think of Elijah and you think of the population of the world today we think of the calling it is a huge calling and also all the deceptions that have been set into even the church the last one I want to show in a special sense seventh-day Adventist have been set in the world as Watchmen as light bearers to them has been entrusted the last warning for a perishing world in on them is shining wonderful light from the Word of God they have been given a work of the most solemn import the proclamation of the first second and third angels messages there is no other work of so great importance there to allow nothing else to absorb their attention amen and too often we are trying so hard to be relevant in these last days that we're forgetting our mission and we're finding ourselves attempting to become like that which is around us because somehow we find people are drawn to it and as you mentioned pastor Lowe McCain sometimes it's just an entertainment event and so we find that really I was always looking up the actual Elijah what the name Elijah means and was mentioned earlier but the Lord is my god anyone who is sharing the Elijah message in the last days will be someone who has the Lord as their God and I want us to go to a text I went to earlier but look a little bit earlier than that go to Luke chapter 1 and not just verse 17 but I was intrigued with verses 15 and 16 as well because we're looking at John the Baptist here and the special calling that God had on his life and I want you to know if you think about it was seven and a half billion people on this planet and for you to be part of a small movement in this in this world for God to give you this message he has entrusted it for a purpose and that is for you to share it with those that you know and love and here we find in verse 15 it says for he will be great this is speaking of John the Baptist in the sight of the Lord and shall drink neither wine or strong drink it's very interesting because uniquely almost the seventh-day Adventist Church has a health message that you're not finding necessarily in the rest of Christendom and it is a special calling you think about the Elijah message that's one of the characteristics or identifying marks the other one is he will be filled with the holy spirit we think about revelation 18:4 after after the three angels messages the difference is the same message with whole spirit outpouring happening but the message is always the same the other thing we have to keep in mind when I think about Elijah it was not a message of popularity it was a message that actually brought judgment and divide in the hearts and lives of people because they either have allegiance to that which they followed or they have allegiance to the Word of God and that messenger oftentimes goes through persecution of some sense so if it's your family sometimes you're going to be standing up for right and you're going to find immense forces against that when we think about the prophets of bail and bringing in the the foreign gods oftentimes the strongest Christian in the home is not leading and someone else others are bringing in influences from the world and contaminating the atmosphere in that home it's not just who you marry but it's also what you're allowing of the enemy's food to be to be taking over because he's working relentlessly for those that are not following him to bring that influence into the homes and I also think about it was a spirit of Jezebel that entered the church during this 1260 days or years I should say but God is calling his children home and I like what this says here in our lesson it's on Thursday on the bottom of the pages says the heavenly father has turned the hearts of his children back to himself and has turned the hearts of his children to each other through the cross of Christ and really the heart of the gospel is in second let's go to 2nd Corinthians chapter 5 2nd Corinthians 5 we're going to take a look at verses 18 through 21 now all things are of God who has reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ and has given us the Ministry of reconciliation so he must be the center of the message you think about the three angles messages even revelation 14:6 it is the everlasting gospel is the forefront message that is that God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself not imputing their trespasses to them and and has committed to us the word of reconciliation now then we are ambassadors for Christ as though God were pleading through us we implore you on Christ's behalf be reconciled to God for he has he he made him him who knew no sin to be sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God in him in essence this is really the mission that God has given us that is the everlasting gospel of revelation 14:6 you know those in your world are the ones that God has called you to call as a matter of fact they have another quote here on our lesson here on Thursdays lesson I want to share it's going to jump right into the over sentence we must remember that the message we have for the world is also for ourselves until the principles of God gospel the unity of love self-sacrifice or made manifest among us especially in our own families we will be powerless to share this message with others so how do we have we find that power Christ in you is the hope of glory Colossians 1:27 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me Philippians 4:13 so we are called first and foremost to be disciples of Jesus that is the first and foremost calling for us but those are where did we call be disciples that are also making disciples and God wants to through us share a message that no one else is sharing this Advent movement has a unique calling and unique insight and as we saw we're entrusted with the most truth that needs to be shared at this very hour of Earth's history that's right you'll want to think about revelation 18:4 let's go there together this is something some of us know very well but even when you go to verse 1 revelation 18 1 says after these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven having the great Authority and the earth was illuminated with his glory first and foremost the Holy Spirit is driving this and we find verse 4 it says and I heard another voice from heaven saying come out of her my people lest you share in her sins unless you receive her play of her plagues that right there is the Elijah's showdown that is it right there it's happening again in modern terms it is told to us that this is exactly the way it's going to be happening we're living at the last hours of Earth's history and we are we God has blessed us to be alive here and now and he has a purpose for us as a matter of fact Ellen White when she was in vision she saw sincere Christians holding their Bibles open with tears in their eyes pleading with the people that this is the way walk e in it which shows me that they had love for God supremely they had love for others that were in their world one thing we have to always remember is every one of us that's viewing this or listening to this program is going to be meetings people that no one else in your world will ever know and God has ordained that opportunity for you to actually systematically through his power he knows where the people are he's working on their hearts call them into his glorious light while there's still time before that Ark is safe too bright now I was thinking as others of speaking there is an open door let's take advantage of that time that God has gifted us this lesson has really opened my heart and mind to a lot of things really stirred my heart and I praise God for that why don't we take the last few minutes we have and just go back through the panel and let you guys open your heart and share something for the Lord Thank You Ryan as I think about this quarter it's all about families and we could talk self-help we could say this these are steps this is what you can do to help your family but it means nothing unless you make the Lord Jesus Christ as the center of your heart your home and your family second Corinthians 6:16 he says I was dwell in them walk among them I will be their God and they shall be my people that's God's desire for each one of us amen I just think this this thought that hit me the greatest was first Kings 1837 when Elisha is calling on God and he says Oh Lord hear me that this may people may know that you are God and that you have turned their hearts back to you again I think that anytime we're trying to turn hearts back at the altar what we need to do is pray earnestly and know that it is God who gives the change of heart all we have to do is reflect his love and his light in this work trying to finally second Timothy 4 verse to preach the word be ready in season and out of season convinced reprove rebuke exhort with all longsuffering and that's what God has called us to do if there's going to be any Reformation or any change we have to uphold the word in our family uphold it in society uphold it in the church family and uphold it before the world so that Reformation and revival can occur that's right and if you're living in a home where the influence of the enemy has infiltrated get on your knees open your opened your Bible and claim this promise I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me and invite his spirit and his word to rule in your house amen well well friends we certainly appreciate you joining us week after week studying with us but we're going to start a new quarter next week and we encourage you to join us that's quarter number three and we're gonna be dealing with the subject of ministering to those in need and I hope that God continues to bless you and Holy Spirit continues to lead and guide you listen to the spirit go to the Word of God and allow God to transform your life until next time we appreciate you joining us here at the 3abn Sabbath School panel you

  1. Have you ever wondered why there are so many religions? If you read the Bible you will find out. I have discovered that the Hebrew Bible (Torah) speaks poorly of all nations of people who adversely affected the Israelites (the Most High’s children) and it talks of how they will be dealt with during the End-Times. “I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto ye go over the Jordan to possess it; ye shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed. And Jehovah (Yahuah) will scatter you among the peoples, and ye shall be left few in number among the nations, whither Jehovah (Yahuah) shall lead you away. And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men’s hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭4:26-28‬ ‭ASV‬‬
By the way, the Most High’s name could not have Jehovah because the letter ”J” is only 400-500 years created. Therefore, no words or names should begin with the letter ”J”, because the original manuscript was written in Paleo Hebrew and translated into Greek and then English. The goal of the Confederate nations was to confuse the teachings of the Torah and create gods for their nations to include all nation and eliminate the Hebrew nation or Israelites during the process. “O God, keep not thou silence: Hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God. For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult; And they that hate thee have lifted up the head. They take crafty counsel against thy people And consult together against thy hidden ones. They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; That the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. For they have consulted together with one consent; Against thee do they make a covenant:
Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre: Assyria also is joined with them; They have helped the children of Lot. [Selah”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭83:1-5, 7-8‬ ‭ASV‬‬
The Bible tells the Israelites These representatives of religion are like magicians. Their job is to convince anyone who buys into their tricks, the Torah is wrong although it’s the first book, and their book was derived from it (Torah). If you get a chance read some of there religious manuscripts and you will think of plagiarism. The Hebrew Torah or Old Testament was written between 1200 and 165 BC, Quran was written on December 22, 608 CE, the Catholic Bible was written in 1582 and the Babylonian Talmud was written about the South century. Oh by the way, the Jewish people are not the Israelites/children of the Most High (Yahuah), they are Israeli the children of Judaism. With all the information available on the earth and the other nations are stuck on European Jewish narrative confirms the Torah’s prophecy. Lastly, Israel is a people, not a land mass.

  2. What a wonderful lesson to end this quarter!! What a lesson for such a time as this!! I am truly blessed by these lessons. keep up the good work and keep the faith till the very end

  3. what a wonderful panel, i always envy these students of the word and yearn to meet them in eternity if we will never meet in this sick sinful world.
