Impact of Using SAS at South Carolina Department of Education

DANIEL RALYEA: One of
the big applications that we do at the
Department of Education is around accountability. So the ability to collect
data, validate what’s going on, and report back to
the source people because we’ve got this
cycle of data that’s going back and forth
in a timely fashion means that they can respond
before that gets published on their state report card. A major impact is
now, rather than existing in a punitive
environment around data, we can exist in a partnership
environment around data. I’m able to help support
school districts by delivering information in a
timely way, and they’re able to respond and
hopefully improve the process of education in
South Carolina based on it.
