Governor Abbott-Race and Education

MARK MY WORDS, MARK MY WORDS. DAMN KID WOULD HAVE CONTACTED THE COUNTY JUDGE BEFORE THIS TV SHOW IS OVER. THAT’S GOOD BECAUSE I NEED THE HELP. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. A DIFFERENT WAY FOR CALLING OUT. AS A PARENT I LOOK FORWARD TO MY KIDS BRINGING HOME THE REPORT CARDS. THE TAA, THE STATE CAME OUT WITH THIS LIST OF GRADES. GRADING EVERY SINGLE SCHOOL DISTRICT. HERE IN TYLER YOU’RE DOING REALLY GOOD, YOU GOTTA BE WHICH IS EXCELLENT. WE TAKE A LOOK DEEPER AT THE REPORTS FROM THE STATE, GOVERNOR, WE FIND OUT IT’S ONLY THE WHITE STUDENTS WERE MEETING THE GOALS. HISPANIC STUDENTS, THE ASIAN STUDENTS, STUDENTS OF COLOR THAT ARE NOT MEETING THE GOALS STATEWIDE. MY QUESTION TO YOU STATE MIGHT COME UP WHAT WE GONNA DO CLOSE THAT GAP? WE PASSED LAWS THE SESSION CLOSE THAT ACCOUNT. IN 2 FUNDAMENTAL WAYS. UNDERSTAND THIS. IT’S HUGELY IMPORTANT. THERE IS A CLEAR FOR YOUR ACADEMIC SUCCESS IS NOT HINGED TO EITHER YOUR RACE OR YOUR ZIP AS PROVEN BY THE DALLAS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT. THE MODEL BUT WE DID IN THE STATE OF TEXAS BASED ON THE SUCCESS THEY ACHIEVED IN THE DALLAS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT. THERE’S AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL THAT I VISITED. BEFORE THESE CHANGES WERE MADE IT WAS LIKE FRANK SOMETHING LIKE 132ND IN DALLAS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT. AFTER COUPLE YEARS OF CHANGES WE PUT THE BEST TEACHERS, PAY THEM MORE AND PUT THEM IN THE MOST CHALLENGING CLASSROOMS. SUCCESS WAS ACHIEVED. YOU WENT FOR HUNDRED 32ND TO DALLAS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT. SIMILAR CHANGES OCCUR THROUGHOUT DALLAS. THESE WERE EITHER PRIMARILY OR SOLELY POVERTY STUDENTS. DOESN’T MATTER YOUR INCOME LEVEL, ERASE LEVEL OR YOUR ZIP CODE. WE KNOW THROUGH STRATEGIES ALL STUDENTS CAN SUCCEED. FUNDING WE PROVIDED FOR SCHOOL FINANCE IT WAS EXACTLY THOSE TYPES OF STRATEGIES. STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO ACHIEVE SUCCESSFULLY REGARDLESS OF WHAT THEIR BACKGROUND IS. THANK YOU GOVERNOR FOR THAT.
