IT’S AN OUTLET TO EDUCATION MANY OF THESE STUDENTS WOULDN’T NORMALLY HAVE. THEY HAVE A REALLY THICK SKULL. THEY WILL BUTT HEADS. REPORTER: ENVIRONMENTAL LEARNING FOR KIDS OR ELK TAKES KIDS OUT OF THE DENVER METRO AREA AND INTO NATURE. WE ARE TAKING A NATURE HIKE. REPORTER: 17-YEAR-OLD ESA WAS FIRST INTRODUCED TO ELK BY HER COUSIN. NATURE CAN BE SOME KIND OF THERAPY FOR OTHERS, SO FOR ME, JUST BEING OUT HERE IN THE NATURE AND THE ENVIRONMENT, IT HELPS ME CLEAR MY MIND. REPORTER: SHE NOW SHARES HER LOVE FOR THE OUTDOORS WITH OTHERS. IT MAKES ME FEEL NOSTALGIC BECAUSE I WAS LIKE THEM. OUR MISSION IS TO EDUCATE, INSPIRE, AND TRANSFORM YOUTH THROUGHOUT DOOR RECREATION AND STEM EDUCATION. REPORTER: ELK STAFF MEMBER JUSTIN TWIST SAYS ELK IS ALL ABOUT GETTING KIDS ACTIVE AND SHOWING THEM THE OPPORTUNITIES NATURE PROVIDES.
