  1. The United States is not a democracy. It's a representative government where representatives in government are democratically elected. The difference is not splitting hairs.

  2. just looking at this it breaks the test of a critical thinking issue. How does Signing Petitions, riding, running, or waking for charity or have 'feelings' their views influence public policy? I can contribute to charities by writing a check and dispense with the running and such.

  3. Many times my students ask about "critical thinking". They don't completely understand "what it means." Basically, we all need to be skeptical of simple solutions to complex problems. You should be neutral and continue to analyze events because issues do change; you need to analyze and diplomatically debate the issues. Do not participate in gossip. Gossip, repetition, and avoidance are all basic tactics to sway the audience – promoting ignorance. Democracy will only survive if there is scholarly discourse and diplomatic debate – without violence.

Epictetus, a Greek philosopher, and a pillar of western thought said, “We have two ears and one mouth so we may listen more and talk less.” However, once you listen and research both viewpoints, then you should present facts and verbalize your opinion – without emotion or drama.

I believe it was Edmund Burke who said, “The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men and women to do nothing.” You must participate in the discussion.

Finally, people who attempt to sway public opinion with gossip should be ignored, isolated and rejected. You must talk about the issues – not personalities. You only need to watch political debates and see the tactics of politicians to understand how they do it. Believe me; they are all critical thinkers and understand completely the human psyche. Do not be duped! Below is a quick explanation of “Critical Thinking.”

  4. But the masses wont be taught to think critically, the goverment wants you to think passivly they want you to second guess yourself. They dont want you to ask questions they wamt you to just obey. They dont want a democracy. Thus them not encouraging critical thinking.

  5. The purpose of this video is to look at things objectively, and emotionally base on your beliefs. Having one way of thinking (narrow minded). One must question everything, forming a conclusion base on facts. Then make a decision. There is no right or wrong answer, only the discussion of that answer.

  6. This PRO CON explains critical thinking, then ignores the fact that our form of government is a Republic, and calls it a Democracy!  So much for CRITICAL THINKING!  Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what is for dinner!  Practice what you preach ProCON!

  7. Go to >> the website of the truth contest and read the present.
this book shows you how the mind functions and how it actually should function to improve your life.

  8. Thank you for your contribution to society ProCon didn't even know I was critical thinking until you mentioned the tomato example.  When it comes to applying the skill to life, people would rather work multiple 9-5s at jobs they despise to live a life they might not be happy with if they get their. It's easier to work jobs you hate instead of putting life to a test and pushing for personal success instead of the governments success.

  9. just saying but i have absolutely no confidence in the voting system because they never make any positive changes for the general public and basically just want the power.  no one seems to be interested in doing the right thing and furthering mankind anymore. its all just about making money. its important to have a healthy monetary scheme but we're just destroying the planet for the wealth. natural resources provide enough power to power the world but its not profitable. arse!

  10. This is not critical thinking explained , he just told you something that can lead to critical thinking in certain aspects THAT HE BELIEVES IN.. information can be interpreted as to answer WHO? WHAT? WHERE? WHEN? And then apply by asking HOW ?& WHY? ….etc

  12. I like this but "Scientifically proven, qualified to talk about this, etc." are as worthless as an opinion on a blog these days.
Some professor with 30 years of experience says something that is proven wrong 15 seconds later.

  13. +imbetterthanyouis, wow…. "real life skills"? So you think critical thinking is not a life skill? Yeah, let's just accept everything the "elites" tell us, simply because it's their job…even though there have been a crap ton of instances where statistics are proven false, scientific theories are proven false, teachers are proven wrong, data is retracted, etc. Because you don't think critical thinking is a "real life skill"…….

"Ya already kno the answer"………….right……I'm gonna go jump in the lack and see if I will wake up because this level of outright unreasonableness cannot exist in the real world….

Nope, didn't work. You're just an imbecile.

  14. this is a real good video who can helps us to know how important critical thinking is.Thanks so much for this share.
If everyone in our modern world can well understand the critical thinking, we can have a real clear and happy life!

  15. Thinking critically about this critical thinking video. Surely the research is not actually giving evidence that critical thinking is good as debating in class does not denote that the student is thinking critically.

  16. "Critical thinking" should be just "thinking"; and there is no mystery in thinking, you know. You don't need a seminary, a book, a youtube video or anything to explain to you what thinking is. Naturally as a human being, you think. So come on

  17. And also, I've seen books written by people that help you from a critical thinking (there's a book at my school library named "Critical Thinking"). That's not fine. I haven't read it yet but I can assume that if you follow someone's advice for a critical thinking, then you're not thinking, someone else is doing it for you.

  18. I disagree when you say that most students who claim to be "critical thinkers" sign petitions and shit… Not all of those are actually intelligent. I have known many students and even teachers who strut around with their books and their wisdom, and that to me is not being smart – you're just wise, you just know more shit, but it doesn't make you intelligent until you do something with it

  19. Try cracking open a history book someday, and see what's happened to large majority of governments. The USA is not very exceptional after all 😉

  20. "students who regularly take part in class discussions, are more likely to vote in later life",
Come on, if you were a true critical thinker, you wouldn't vote at all because you would logically deduce that you don't NEED rulers! Democracy is nothing but a scam by the oligarchy to herd their tax cattle into the illusion of representation, when really they are in two corners of the same pin. There are no morals in democracy, only who gets the gun/power. Look up the NAP/voluntaryism for more info.

  21. it's funny how we assume that criticial thinking is a good thing. It's assumed that its good enough to even change the way each citizen handles himself politically! but so much critical thinking has blinded the fact that reality is going in a total diferent direction. that people just wanna chill and relax and have fun, they have enough problems as it is already, making a living or just overcoming the surviving part in order to just live. It's ironic, lets talk about the ideal but not the real.

  24. Besides becoming nauseous from all the animation in this video, I'm sitting here thinking critically about the points he's making. This is honestly too much for my brain and I can't cope. Need a drink.

  25. And if the government can fool the people into believing that extraterrestrial lifeforms don't even exist, let alone visiting earth and influencing our history, then whose to say they can't fool people into believing the tap water they drink ISN'T harmful, or that they are NOT spraying our earth's atmosphere with lethal chemicals under the ridiculous guile of so-called "protection from global warming". Don't even get me started on pharmaceutical companies either…disgusting.

  26. Rice. I eat a hell of a lot of rice. Protein is the expensive one. Eggs and milk are probably the most expensive things. But you don't have to be vegetarian to eat a lot of those. I don't shop at health food shops. I shop at Aldi and the local fruit and veg store. And in New York? Same thing. Fruit and veg, rice, eggs, milk. They're easy to find.

  27. you know those are based on your preferences and not just the current video you're watching, right? lol i don't think youtube screwed up 😀

  28. I know it's hard to make a statement so obviously sarcastic that people won't take you seriously, but you're getting close… lol

  29. "Cannot afford a vegetarian diet"? What? Really? It's not really that expensive. And maybe if you gave up your expensive chocolate and cigarettes(Yes, I gave those up…) then you could afford it. Haha. Don't get me wrong, it's your choice but that has to be the worst excuse I have ever seen for not being vegetarian.
